LESS SCREEN
TIME. MORE
GAME TIME.

Grassroots Sports & Fitness exists because kids deserve more than a screen. We pull them out of the scroll and into environments where they have to think, move, communicate, and compete — together.

Our programs use games, multi-sport activities, and creative movement challenges to develop the whole child. Every session is designed so that kids are solving problems, making decisions under pressure, talking to teammates, and most importantly — having so much fun they forget it's exercise.

We also offer individual basketball skills training for Youth through Collegiate level players — elite one-on-one development from a proven Division I coach, built to take serious players to the next level.

Whether your child is a future athlete or just a kid who needs to get moving — there's a place for them at Grassroots.

THE RESEARCH
IS CLEAR.

This isn't just a philosophy — it's backed by decades of science. What happens when we get kids moving and away from screens isn't just physical. It changes how they think, how they connect, and who they become.

FROM THE
COURT TO THE
COMMUNITY.

Coach Sherrie Tucker didn't just play the game — she dominated it.

A Philadelphia native and four-year standout at Coppin State University, Tucker built one of the most decorated careers in Lady Eagles history. A two-time MEAC Player of the Year, two-time NCAA Tournament competitor, and three-time team MVP, her impact was so profound that Coppin State retired her jersey No. 40 — making her one of only two women's basketball players in program history to receive that honor. She was later inducted into the Coppin State University Athletics Hall of Fame.

After college, Tucker took her game overseas, playing professionally for the Etzella Basketball Club in Luxembourg — where she averaged a double-double in league play — before returning stateside with one thing on her mind: giving back.

Her coaching journey began in the grassroots — working with AAU programs, leading a middle school boys team, and eventually climbing the Division I ranks as an assistant and associate head coach at Longwood University, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, and Bethune-Cookman University. At every stop, her focus was the same: develop the whole athlete, not just the player.

Then came the moment everything clicked.

After years of working within other people's programs, Coach Tucker realized the impact she wanted to make couldn't be contained to a gym or a roster. It needed to reach further — into schools, daycares, and communities where kids don't always get access to quality athletic development. So she built it herself.

Grassroots Sports & Fitness is that vision made real — a program designed to meet youth where they are, develop them into confident movers and thinkers, and prove that every child is an athlete waiting to be discovered.

SIMPLE,
TRANSPARENT PRICING.

No hidden fees. No long-term contracts. Just quality coaching that delivers results — built to be accessible for every family and organization.

ATHLETES WHO
DID THE WORK.

These aren't just players — they're proof. Every one of them put in the work in individual sessions with Coach Tucker, grew into confident, well-rounded individuals, and went on to compete at the highest levels of the game. The roots were always there — we just helped them grow.

Longwood University — Farmville, VA

"The individual sessions with Coach Tucker were unlike anything I'd experienced. She broke my game down piece by piece and rebuilt it. I went from a junior college transfer to the leading scorer and rebounder at a Division I program. She gave me the tools to compete at the highest level — and I took them all the way to Barcelona."

Eboni Gilliam Forward · Team Leading Scorer & Rebounder, Senior Season Pro: Club Natació Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain

"What separates Coach Tucker is how personal the training is. She studies you. She knows what you need before you even ask. My vision and decision-making on the court grew more in my time working with her than in any other period of my career. She makes you see the game differently."

Micaela Ellis Guard · Top-10 All-Time Assists, Longwood University Longwood University, 2014–2018
Texas A&M–Corpus Christi — Corpus Christi, TX

"Coach Tucker's individual training gave me the confidence to know I belonged at the highest level. She challenged me every session and refused to let me be comfortable. I went from a small-town girl from McMullen County to a two-time conference champion and a professional player in Europe. The work we put in together was a huge part of that journey."

Makinna Serrata Guard · 2× SLC All-Conference First Team · 2× All-Texas · 1,000+ Career Points Pro: Belgrade, Serbia

"Coach Tucker knows how to develop big players in ways most coaches don't. She sharpened my post moves, cleaned up my footwork, and turned my defensive instincts into a weapon. Helping this program reach its first NCAA Tournament was a dream — and the individual development she invested in me made me ready for that moment."

Nabaweeyah McGill Forward · Part of First NCAA Tournament Team in Program History Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, 2020–2024
Bethune-Cookman University — Daytona Beach, FL

"Coach Tucker prepares you for life after basketball, not just the game itself. The discipline, the attention to detail, the accountability she demands in individual sessions — those are the habits that carried me through my career at BCU and into coaching. She builds complete athletes and complete people."

Kayla White Guard · Bethune-Cookman University Now: Graduate Assistant, Jacksonville University

"Every session with Coach Tucker had a purpose. She didn't waste a minute. She identified exactly where my game needed to grow and went to work on it relentlessly. That focus and professionalism is what took me from a college player to a professional one. I wouldn't be playing overseas without the foundation she helped me build."

Kayla Clark Power Forward · Bethune-Cookman University Pro: Played Overseas

"Four years at Bethune-Cookman and Coach Tucker's individual training was the constant that kept pushing my development forward. She never let me settle. When I had a career night, it didn't feel like a surprise — because we had put in that work. She prepares you to perform when it matters most."

Daimoni Dorsey Guard · 4-Year Standout · Career-High 19 Points Bethune-Cookman University, 2022–Present

HERE'S EXACTLY
WHAT HAPPENS.

No guessing, no surprises. Here's a clear picture of what your athlete or organization will experience with Grassroots — from the first session to the lasting impact.

01

Initial Consultation

We start with a conversation about your athlete — their position, goals, strengths, and where they want to improve. No session is built without understanding the player first.

02

Assessment Session

Coach Tucker evaluates the athlete in person — watching their footwork, ball handling, and decision-making to build a clear picture of where they are and where they need to go.

03

Personalized Plan

Every athlete gets a training plan built specifically for them — no cookie-cutter workouts. Drills, focus areas, and progressions are tailored to their game and their goals.

04

Ongoing Development

Sessions build on each other. Coach Tucker tracks progress, adjusts the plan, and pushes the athlete to the next level. You'll see the difference — on the court and in their confidence.

Before Grassroots
Inconsistent with the ball under pressure
Weak footwork and slow first step
Unsure of role and position strengths
Training without a clear direction
Doubting whether the next level is possible
After Grassroots
Composed and decisive with the ball
Explosive footwork and sharper quickness
Clear identity and position-specific skills
Purposeful training with measurable progress
Confidence to compete at the highest level
01

Show Up & Jump In

No tryouts, no prior experience required. Kids arrive, get moving immediately, and are welcomed into a group where everyone belongs. The energy is high from minute one.

02

Games, Challenges & Movement

Sessions rotate through different activities — multi-sport games, movement challenges, team competitions, and drills. No two sessions feel the same, so kids stay excited and engaged.

03

Think, Communicate & Compete

Every activity is designed to make kids use their brains, not just their bodies. They solve problems on the fly, lead teammates, and make decisions under pressure — building skills that last beyond the session.

04

Real Growth

Over time, parents notice the difference — not just physically, but in how their child carries themselves. More confident, more social, more willing to put down the phone and get moving. That's what we're really building.

Before Grassroots
Glued to a phone, tablet, or gaming screen
Avoids physical activity or group settings
Limited coordination and body awareness
Struggles to connect or communicate with peers
Says "I'm not athletic" and believes it
After Grassroots
Asking to go back — voluntarily choosing activity
Making friends and thriving in team settings
Noticeably stronger, faster, and more coordinated
Communicating, leading, and encouraging others
Walking taller with real confidence and self-belief

Individual Basketball Training
Individual basketball training is designed for serious players from 8th grade through the collegiate level. Whether your athlete is trying to earn a starting spot, get recruited, or elevate their game to the next level, these sessions are built around their specific goals.
Every session is fully personalized to the athlete. Coach Tucker evaluates strengths, weaknesses, and position-specific needs, then builds a focused plan. Sessions typically cover ball handling, footwork, scoring techniques, and basketball IQ — with every drill tied directly to the athlete's development goals.
All individual sessions are coached directly by Coach Sherrie Tucker — a 2× MEAC Player of the Year, Coppin State Hall of Famer, former professional player, and Division I coach at Longwood University, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, and Bethune-Cookman University. Your athlete is getting elite, experienced coaching every single session.
That depends on the athlete's goals and schedule. We'll work with you to build a training cadence that makes sense. Consistent training — even once or twice a week — produces real, measurable improvement over time. We'll recommend a frequency during your initial consultation.
Athletic shoes, comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle, and a strong work ethic. We'll handle the rest — including basketballs and any training equipment needed for the session.
